About Susan

Susan Linville, CD(DONA), received a BA in Humanities and Theater from the University of Louisville in 1989. She founded, with several fellow theater students, The Necessary Theatre in the spring of 1991 before shifting her focus to family and children. Susan has worked as a director and actress for many years but feels her true calling is to help women see their own power and take charge of their births.

In 2002, after a long and less than perfect labor she had an unexpected c-section without a doula. There was much grieving and soul searching when in 2003 she was pregnant again. Finding it nearly impossible to get support for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian) Susan left her OB practice in Louisville and decided to give birth with midwives and a doula. She had a beautiful and healing birth with the help of a doula and a kind and patient mid-wife. She lives in the Highlands with her 2 sons and husband. She completed her DONA-approved doula training in October of 2006, and received DONA certification in the fall of 2009.

She is forever grateful to the powerful goddesses who held her hand and led her to a life changing and empowering birth experience. She wants to pass this incredible gift on to more women so we can all stand together in the truth, knowledge and strength of women everywhere.

"The wisdom and compassion a woman can intuitively experience in childbirth can make her a source of healing and understanding for other women."
